About the Book

In the mist-shrouded fishing village of Porthenev, a ravenous evil is lurking.

When sabotage threatens the local fishing fleet, the desperate community turns to private investigator Blake Hollow—on the advice of her estranged father. Taking the case means opening the door to a relationship she’s tried to leave behind, and a past she’s not ready to forgive. But Blake must set her feelings aside to uncover the truth, because this is not the work of a mere vandal.

A sunken trawler and mutilated seabirds are only the beginning. When a fisherman vanishes, leaving behind signs of brutal violence, Blake realises she’s tracking someone with a bloody vendetta—and that the fishermen are hiding a deadly secret.

As winter gales batter the shores and dense fog cloaks the empty streets, Blake must hunt a predator whose hunger for revenge has spiralled into something terrifyingly savage. But in this ghost town, where innocence is just an illusion, solving the case could make her the final course of the killer’s twisted feast.

Perfect for fans of Sharon Bolton and Peter May, The Dark Below plunges readers into a maritime nightmare where buried sins and unrelenting fury collide.

Just Put It Behind You

Except you can’t. Especially when vandalism at the harbor turns to missing persons and gruesome death scenes. And the tortured corpses once were a part of your secret, too. How can you continue your everyday life and how can a ‘not wanted’ woman PI help? Blake Hollow faces one of her most heinous killers who seems to be hiding in plain sight in The Dark Below. Malcolm Richards writes action and scenery so that you feel you are watching the story unfold before you as if you were actually there. And isn’t that what good books are supposed to do? Richards has the ability to bring you to the edge of your seat and then switch gears just in time to allow your mind to take over to mystify and terrify you. Let’s hope we read more of Blake Hollow in the future.

After being hired as a PI to investigate incidents of vandalism at the harbour Blake digs deeper and looks into things that happened in the past which is when things start to escalate. This is another well written story from Malcolm Richards which had me gripped from start to finish.  The characters are well written, the descriptions of Cornwall bring the setting to life. I highly recommend the latest book in The Blake Hollow Series.

Blake Hollow is hired to investigate several reasonably minor incidents which have taken place at a harbor. However, this soon escalates into some very disturbing crimes and Blake cannot just stand back and wait for the police to solve them.

Gripping story with some interesting characters. The protagonist , Blake, is affable, witty and her life is intriguing. Settings are depicted so well, it’s easy to visualise the gruesome crime scenes.

Cleverly written and flows well. There are no irritating spelling errors, resulting in an effortless and enjoyable read.

If you like your books dark and full of suspense but still with some humour, then this is the one for you.

The third book in the series is just as good as the previous two. Blake Hollow is faced with investigating acts of violence, and vandalism in a fishing port and then murder. As she digs deeper into this it seems impossible to work out whether the vandalism and murder are by the same person or separate people. Great and unpredictable ending.

Wow! Another page-turner which will have you looking over your shoulder just to ensure your own safety.

The characters are very real and every detail is described immaculately. You get pulled right into the story and hope that everything works out and the now-familiar characters stay safe. (Or alive, at least!)
